Hour of Code

Two students with headphones sit at a desk with a laptop

Computer Science Education week is held every December in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Grace Hopper. ISD Tech TOSA, Emily Lee works with students and staff at Grand Ridge in addition to several other schools.

Emily states, "Many teachers plan an “hour of code” during that week, to engage students in critical thinking, collaboration, and creative problem solving. This exposure also helps ensure that all of our students feel like they belong in the world of computer science, which is a critical component in closing the tech gaps we see in society."
